By His divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know Him, the one who called us to Himself by means of His marvelous glory and excellence. And because of His glory and excellence, He has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share His divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires (2Pet. 1:3-4 NLT).

Most of us are familiar with the phrase, “There’s an app for that,” trademarked by Apple. “App” is short for “application”. It is a software program for use on mobile devices and computers. That’s the extent of my extremely limited knowledge of “techie stuff”. Nevertheless, I use apps all the time.

The app I’m referencing is short for “A Precious Promise”. Within the pages of Scripture there’s a precious promise for every situation one will ever encounter. Instead of prattling on about the problem, proclaim the promise! Look at your situation and then say, “There’s an app for that—an exceeding great and precious promise.”

Words to an old hymn come to mind: “Standing on the Promises”. One verse says, “Standing on the promises that cannot fail, / When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail, / By the living Word of God I shall prevail, / Standing on the promises of God.”

God’s promises are stormproof, fireproof, and fail-safe. Therefore it is imperative that we be women of the Word. Beloved, I always say, “If you get into the Word, the Word will get into you.” Become familiar with God’s Word and His promises. When faced with difficulties you’ll want to be able to say, “There’s an APP for that!” Following are a few of my favorites:

Adversity: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Rom. 8:28).

Alone: “And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed” (Deut. 31:8).

Care: “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (1 Pet. 5:7).

Comfort: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” (Matt. 5:4).

Healing: “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed” (Isa. 53:5).

Love: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 8:35, 38-39).

Need/Lack: “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:19).

“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb. 4:16).

Peace: “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You” (Isa. 26:3).

Salvation: “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Rom. 10:9).

Temptation: “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it” (1 Cor. 10:13).

Trials: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you” (Isa. 43:2).

Victory: “The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace” (Ex. 14:14).

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 15:57).

Weakness: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Phil. 4:13).

Wisdom: “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5).

One evening my husband asked me what an “App” was and like you Meredith I am limited in “techie stuff”. How was I going to explain it to him with both of us having limited knowledge of “Apps” but now that I have your definition, it will be so easy to say to him that it is short for “A Precious Promise”. Indeed, there is a promise in the Word for every situation we face. Isn’t it just like the Lord to make sure no matter what we comes our way, we have His promises to go to. Love you my friend.
